Become A Volunteer

Our volunteer program is designed to build a partnership with the community and increase public involvement in the fight to end the cycle of domestic violence.

A variety of essential services are provided by S.A.F.E. House volunteers.  We value the contributions made by volunteers and recognize that volunteers are vital to our daily operations.

The following are volunteer opportunities for community supporters:

  • FIT (Families in Transition) Aide: The FIT Aide Volunteer is responsible for working with both children and their parents in structured and casual group settings to model, coach, guide, and teach positive family interactions.(Assignment opportunities available M-F 11am-3pm and 6pm-8pm).
  • Fundraising: The Fundraising Volunteer is responsible for assisting in specific fundraising campaigns and/or events.  The duties include, but are not limited to; donor communication (via mail or telephone), solicitation of donations, assisting in all aspects of fundraising events. (Assignment opportunities available as needed).
  • Thrift Store Attendant Aide The thrift store attendant is responsiblefor assisting customers with donations, sorting & tagging donations, putting items out on the floor for sale, and assisting customers as requested.  Aides will also assist with loading and unloading of clothing bin and large furniture donations as well as light cleaning duties. (Assignment opportunities available M-F 9:30am-5:00pm and Sat. 9:00am-4:00pm).  We accept volunteers for the thrift store beginning at age 16.
Prospective volunteers will go through an application and interviewing process.  Once selected, the volunteer will be provided with comprehensive orientation and training.  All volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, be able to pass a criminal background check and TB test, and be willing to give a commitment of at least 12 consecutive months of service.
